This appendix provides you with school information, such as budget items, contact information, school type and locations, grades served, demographics, and facilities information for the schools studied in Dollars and Sense II.

Appendix 2: School Facility Construction Analysis Summary
The analysis explored two questions: 1) Are planned costs of construction equal for smaller as compared to larger schools?, and 2) How do variables relating to the schools and their contexts affect construction costs? To answer these questions the research team worked with a database of 3,471 school construction projects compiled by Paul Abramson for School Planning and Management from information provided by School Construction Alert, a Dun and Bradstreet Company. This database purported to be new schools begun between 1995 and 2003 and scheduled for completion between 1996 and 2009.

Appendix 3: Test Scores for Schools in This Report
The following analysis compares the test scores of students in most of the schools in this report against the performance of students in larger schools in the same district that appear to serve comparable populations. The purpose of this analysis is to determine whether students in the smaller schools are achieving academic results that are on par with those of students from larger schools. The findings show that in most cases, even though many of the smaller schools have only been open for a few years, their students are achieving significantly higher academic success than their peers in larger schools.
